Benin sits on the Gulf of Guinea between Togo and Nigeria, with a growing economy built on agriculture, cotton exports and its strategic port at Cotonou.
It is widely regarded as the birthplace of Vodun (Vodou), and its former kingdom of Dahomey left a deep cultural and historical imprint across the region.
